The international music festival “MUSIC LAB STYRIA”, formerly known as the “International Youth Music Festival Styria”, is entering its 18th round in 2025 and will take place from August 17-25 in the market town of Passail, in the city of Graz and in various regions of Styria.
The festival invites young innovative musicians and artists from Styria and neighboring countries to work together with internationally renowned musical personalities in the fields of music, composition, fusion and crossover on site and to create new forms of performance, staging and presentation.
Due to the great demand, there has been increased international cooperation and exchange with various countries from all over Europe since 2014.
New performance formats are constantly being created that involve all participants (musicians, singers, technicians, ...) as well as all visitors and the entire venue as a total work of art.
Every year, the festival sets itself the challenge of dedicating its music productions to current socio- political and artistic themes.
Since 2006, international music productions have been carried out with artists such as the pianist Markus Schirmer, the jazz singer and presenter of the Ö1 Jazznacht Ines Reiger, the ensemble Studio Percussion, cathedral conductor Josef Döller, Eddie Luis, Werner Puntigam, .... Concert tours with conductors such as Mstlislav Rostropovich, Dennis Russell Davies, ...
The organizer is the association “Kulturforum Weiz”, an internationally active art & culture association with a focus on music to promote young innovative music, composition, new music, fusion, vocal acrobatics and crossover.
Through its many years of innovative projects, the Kulturforum Weiz has become a trademark and pioneer in the field of new music production and mediation, which is constantly developing and creating new concepts.
The focus is on world premieres, original interpretations and new interpretations. Similar to a music factory, the Kulturforum Weiz composes, libretti, produces and premieres.
